On Sunday, February 12th, the Toronto Maple Leaf’s returned after three years to partake in an outdoor practice at Nathan Phillips Square. In an effort to feel a part of the community, the team arrived greeting excited fans and signing jerseys before jumping on the rink to scrimmage against fellow teammates. Divided up into three teams, North America, Europe, and Ontario, the Toronto Maple Leafs hit the ice to play 3 on 3 while fans cheered them on. Although this was the main event, fans had the opportunity to enjoy the event with food, beverage, and merchandise within the activation alley.
To create the ultimate fan experience, ICON was tasked with creating and installing banners, rink boards, bike rack covers, directional signage, fence covers, and more. Our graphics surrounding Nathan Phillips Square transformed the space into an miniature outdoor Scotiabank Arena where fans could get up-close and personal with one of the NHL’s Original Six teams.
The event was a success with thousands of people showing out for the event and was the perfect way to bring back the iconic practice after a three-year hiatus. As a proud partner of Maple Leaf Sports & Entertainment, we are excited to help teams in Toronto connect with their fanbases on such a personal level through these experiences. Good luck to the Maple Leafs on the rest of their season as we look to the 2023 Stanley Cup Playoffs!
